How to Redeem an Xbox Gift Card and Set Up Game Pass
Xbox gift cards and Game Pass codes both redeem the same way — through your Microsoft account. Here's how to get set up on any device.
1. Redeem on your Xbox console
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide, then go to Profile & system > Redeem (or search "Redeem" from the console's search bar).
- Enter the 25-character code from your order.
- Confirm — the balance or subscription is applied to your Microsoft account immediately.
2. Redeem on PC or mobile
Go to redeem.microsoft.com, sign in with the Microsoft account you use on Xbox, and enter the code. This works identically whether you're redeeming a gift card balance or an Xbox Game Pass subscription card, and it syncs to your console automatically.
3. Activating Game Pass specifically
After redeeming a Game Pass code, open the Xbox app (on console, PC, or mobile) and check Game Pass in the menu — your subscription and its expiry date will be listed there. From that point, the full Game Pass library is available to install directly.
4. One account, multiple codes
Gift card balance and Game Pass time can both sit on the same Microsoft account — redeeming a gift card doesn't cancel or interfere with an active Game Pass subscription. If you're stacking multiple Game Pass codes, Microsoft will simply extend your subscription's end date.
